so why have we been prevented from
going to work
shopping at anything other than food shops
(includes local volvo dealers)
having fines issued for meeting people/distance keeping, having people in your own home, driving to places (Durham/barnard castle excluded)
had out "so called" freedoms removed with the threat of £1000s in fines//unlimited...

and that means he Can drive down and do my pollen filter ,,kettles on,, ill even get the donuts

you can go for walks , go shopping , go to the hospital or doctor etc and work if you are an essential worker ..
so not a lockdown which in fact means confined to home with no exceptions .

things are getting easier for you now though .

Still a current thread I see.

I just wish I'd read it before starting....

It's all back together (2008 V50 btw) and the key remote hasn't worked since. I disconnected the battery and removed the fuse box/CEM thing. I'm guessing a plug isn't back properly...

Deep joy.

Whooop di dooo.

It was indeed the grey plug on the fuse/CEM thing.

Some idiot hadn't noticed it was stuck down the back of the carpet.....

Thanks all for the tips and pics on this thread.

I just changed mine (in the hope of bettering my AC's performance) and it was, as all have said/experienced, not the easiest of jobs. That's due to access and difficulty seeing what you're doing rather than anything difficult mechanically.

I found that once I'd dropped the CEM out of the way, I had to undo the right hand nut of the CEM bracket and bend it out of the way. No way would the filter have come out with that bracket in place. Even then, there was a bit of gentle bending to get the new filter in. Took me just short of an hour I'd guess. All in all, I'm happy with the job done.

I'm not the biggest of blokes at 5' 7" and have pretty nimble fingers, so I had it easier than some I'd say. The carpet burns on my elbows have raised my wife's eyebrows though.

Not made a jot of difference to the AC though! But at least it's one possible eliminated.

Having had a crack at this job myself this morning and read this thread over lunch I conclude this is a job for someone younger (I'm 67) and bendier with better eyes. Got the fuse rack unshipped and carpets out of the way ok but just could not see the filter door. Decided to stop before I broke something. Possibly my neck..
