Default New CD Player for 1991 940 GLE

Hi,
I have just bought a nice 1991 Volvo 940 GLE 2.3 16v Estate. I removed the original radio cassette player in order to replace it with a new CD Radio. I was unable to get a socket to socket adaptor so have gone for a universal one and stripped back the wires behind the connector block. This however, has only activated the front speakers. I assume that the other lead to the amp is to power the rear speaker. Can anyone help with what I should do to power the rear speakers? Is there an adaptor to plug into the amp lead? Or can anyone help with another option? Thanks in advance,
Garry

Ay up Garry. Tape up the bared leads and get yourself to any decent car audio shop. Autoleads still do the adapter for the amplifier equipped cars. I got mine in April( non amplified) but was told both were in stock at Base Systems Preston. hth

As BluBrickSte says, the part you need is PC2-19-4.
The amplifier for the rear speakers is under the dashboard, on the o/s wing just in front of the drivers door.
The adapter has 2 connectors. one goes to the plug behind the radio and the other runs to the rear amplifier(and bypasses it).
You can get the adapter from Halfords, Motorworld etc.

Hey thanks for the advice guys. Can I just clarify please - The adaptor goes to the amp and not the round lead that I took out of the back of the original unit?

You'll see when you get the adapter. The connector that bypasses the amp is on approx 1 metre of lead.
When you find the amp, just unplug the connector and plug it into the adapter. It's up to you whether you remove the amp or not
