how to v40/s40 anti roll bar mounts
W reg 2000 volvo v40 1.8x
rough guide for whoever of how i did the job, bit of a pig of a job and a wouldn't want to do it again but not too bad, took 2.5 hours from parking it on the ramp to driving it off.... tools used; 1x 4 poster ramp 1x 13mil ring spanner (mount nut i removed) 1x 12mil ring spanner (mount nut i replaced) 1x 13mil ratchet spanner 1x 12mil ratchet spanner 1x air impact gun 1x 17mil socket (subframe/engine mount bolts) 1x 17mil rachet spanner (drop link nuts) 1x 22mil socket (wheel nuts 2x tyre levers first remove both wheels and support the car giving plenty of room around the subframe you'll be able to see the broken mount through the gap broken roll bar mount remove the nuts both sides on the drop links connected to the roll bar remove the 4 bolts on wishbone mounts either side and spray the square nut with wd40 (its the rollbar mount nut) remove 2 bolts holding the subframe either side remove 2 bolts from back of engine support slacken 2 bolts from front of engine support removing all these bolts gave me enough movement of the subframe to work with, then using the tyre levers wedge them in a position to give you enough room to be able to get your spanner on the rollbar mount bolt (no pic of this...) good mount bad mount new mount on then put it all back together and thats it, i changed both sides mounts because like i say i dont wanna do it again but it went reasonably well with no surprises. Thank you's go to Cyril Wilcox & sons @ Market Drayton for letting me use their ramp and tools as they always do |

Excellent guide.
I know that the bottom part of the 2 piece bush falls out but you already had the later type with the thin steel retainer. I did not realise that they still fell apart when worn. your old fitting has really taken a beating. Obviously you had the benefit of a ramp but even so, you did it in a very quick time. |

Superb guide, managed to do mine fairly quickly with not too many struggles. While the sub frame is lowered also gives good opportunity to change the rack gators!
