Volvo dealer knows about this problem and they have a solution. See attach file.

Johnny Kebab, maybe your car has this problem
The boot itself is working fine now, my problem now lies in the fact that the keyless entry isn’t working as it should. It’s as if the antennas for the keyless system aren’t picking up the keys signal as it should. Could this tailgate possibly cause this?

I had the boot opening module from you about 2 years ago and had to remove it because it melted itself into the protective foam it was in. I had no trouble from it in the first year or so of use.

Keyless does not depend on the operation of the tailgate
Perhaps the keyless module in the car is faulty
only one key does not work or all keys?

I have new version v2.4 of Remote close tailgate module
I can send new one.

None of the keys work as they should. Including the new one I bought that I was told by Volvo would sort the problem.

Thank you for the offer of the module but I was made redundant a few weeks ago and money os too tight to be replacing the faulty one.

Thanks for your input.

JK

Johnny Kebab, I looked at my notes.
In October 2017 you bought a module.

Today I will send new Remote close tailgate module v2.4.
After installing the module, tell me the result please

Great service from Evgeny!
I will add I had issues with my v1.0 module in my V70 a many moons ago and it too got hot and I was sent a replacement.
Now I'm using a v4.0 module in my XC70 which plugs into the OBD2 socket and works perfectly.

I also originally had the V1.0 and it failed but there was no heating problem just a lack of functionality. Evgeny replaced it with a V2.4 which has worked ever since. I am very interested in the V4.0 OBD plug-in which I understand can add other functionality apart from the tailgate closure. But for the time being, the V2.4 is working well. Evgeny tells me that this module only receives current to go live when the tailgate is open, so for the vast majority of the time it is inert and without any power flowing through it. That seems like a reasonable safety procedure and I wonder if modules sitting getting hot have not been wired in correctly as they should only be live when the tailgate is open. That sort of scenario could not apply to the plug-in as it is ready to go without any wiring by the owner.

Yes, it's literally plug-and-play with the V4.0 module. Very pleased with it.
Adds auto door unlocking when you turn the ignition off.
Can also over-ride the Stop-Start default function for models with this fitted.
