Didn't want to go to the expense of items before that. I have identified a neat way to incorporate a support bar but the general consensus is its not needed. i must admit the assembly feels pretty solid. support Russ |

There is a support bar shown on the R-Sport catalogue picture. It maybe the same part as the one that supports the E Injection manifold.

That was exactly my idea, use the support bracket from the 1800e! There was one for ages on fleabay but now gone! It shouldn't be to hard to fabricate Russ |

Russ,
Is the instalation of the Solex carbs now complete? If so can you comment on what you can tell is the measureable gain over the original SUs? Roderick |

Roderick
The idea was to trial fit and ensure the carbs fitted without spending big bucks stripping and rebuilding. I've been working in Canada a fair bit(currently typing this in a Ottawa hotel) so it's difficult finding time to make a real start. I don't want to start and then find myself stopping and leaving machined components unassembled. I'm hoping to make a start early April with the carbs being installed once the new engine is in the car. Hopefully some time in May Then a rolling road session to look at jetting I will keep the forum posted Russ |

just to let you know
your carbs are the early type ADDHE you have the late type float chamber covers fitted with the early type jet inspection covers that's why the late type gaskets are sticking out the late type float chamber covers have the floats hanging form the cover the early type have the floats in the bowl located on a pin the the carb body also the outer choke sleves are missing or you can use slide in trumpets more info here http://www.rmcarburetors.net/addhe_rebuilding%20v2.htm having said all that you have probably sorted it all out by now seeing as I have just noticed you posted this in 2013!!! Thanks for the observations All sorted now, carbs have been on the car for a number of years. I wasn’t aware there was an early or late type jet cover, but as you say it runs fine despite this. My floats are in the main body. Volvo supplies these kits with plastic slide in trumpets which are crap. I’ve since changed them but added a purpose fabricated airbox with a feed from the nose cone. The carbs are proving very reliable, start first time after a couple of pumps and good mileage. They also perform very well👍 |

Of course the new jet cover gaskets may have been consolidated to just the one version!

I'm looking for a set of 45's and spare parts to replace the Webers on my kit. Who is a good source?
