Default 2001 fuel gauge problem.

Hi I have been looking at my dads 2001 S40 which has a problem where the fuel gauge isnt registering at all. The low fuel light is on but the gauge doesnt move. I have a haynes manual for up to 99 S/v40s and from that the wires from the tank sender to the gauge appear to be a yellow and a yellow/black wire. With these shorted there is still no movement on the gauge. Can anyone with a more up to date manual double check these colours for me.

Has anyone who has had this problem got any info that could help me? Im starting to think I have a wiring fault and thought someone might know where the wiring breaks down.

Cheers.

Just an update for anyone who may have this problem in the future. The fault turned out to be a broken wire on the tank sender. It was a pain removing the pump and sender unit but the whole job only took an hour or so.
