Default v40 fault

hi ive just bought a 2.0se v40 yesterday it died all electrics gone completly dash lights interior ive just had new key fob re programmed it has been fine has anyone got any ideas on the problem i did get it going again but it dies could it be ignition switch fault? please help many thanks

well if the electrics die totally then start at the battery connections first especially the earth take them off and clean them all the goto the fuses and relays ,take them all out one by one inspect the terminals for any corrosion and refit

Check the loom below the radiator, these have a habit of corroding.

You didn't say whether the car still runs or if it was just the electrics that "died". I had an intermittent fault with my s40 2.0se electrics, where I'd loose everything electric (dash, lights etc) but the engine still runs.

After a lot of guess work, I found the problem was as simple as an earthing strap from the battery. This strap looked fine from the outside, but was corroded inside. The Volvo replacement cost a lot considering all it is!
