Had a trip to the scrap yard yesterday for temporary front struts for my saxo and noticed they had a new V40 in there which I hadn't seen before. Got myself a new drivers wing mirror because mine would only adjust up and down due to sheared teeth on the motor inside of the mirror. The old one also had the two brackets for the plastic surround broken on the top so was quite rattly and the heated mirror didn't work. The new one us perfect. Just had to swap over the colour back. Also bought myself a screen was level sensor as mine has been reading low since I bought the car 3 years ago. Aim to replace that at the next oil change shortly because my under tray is fully intact!

Hello all! Long time no see.
Today the car got a new windscreen Courtesy of the big rock a truck threw at it last week. Ive also sorted out the ACC with a new control panel from Gatos Happy New Year all |

Worn off rear tyres
A check round prior to annual test and I noted the rear tyre inner edge (both sides) have feathered out. Tyres still have 4mm. They had come from the front in the past.
I used an angle app on my phone against the wheel to see what was going on. Left side 5.8%, right side 4.2%. Jacked up the car and wound the camber angle in both sides. Up the hill and back and rechecked it. 1.0% left side, 0.3% right side. That should reduce the shoulder wear on the new tyres when fitted prior to test.

Fixed my switchblade key FOB over Christmas. This FOB is very tricky to take apart without breaking the unit. Luckily I had a doner FOB that I was able to experiment with before trying to pry apart my own. The key, it turns out, is to use a dryer or a heat gun to the bottom part of the remote before prying that last bit apart. That will free up the glue enough to pull it apart without damage. Beats paying a fortune to the dealership for a new key!!!

Waiting for rear suspension parts so got on with painting the bumper trims. A good clean, followed by a going over with wire wool, wipe over with rubbing alcohol, a coat of plastic primer followed by matt black.

And don't these cars look stunning in that metallic green! Our T4 is black, which is a bit rubbish really since none of the black trim shows up very well, it's just an amorphous blob of black. Rather boring really. I miss the green of the 1600 parked on the front garden, retired from duty.

On Friday I accidentally lightly tapped the wall in the carpark at work, so the already cracked part of the number plate fell off, new set of plates on order, and then this morning there was a what I presumed to be dead pigeon on the road, which waited until I was 4 feet away before trying to fly away, safe to say it's dead now, no damage other than feathers everywhere thankfully, rip pidge.

Put the rear wiper on yesterday afternoon on the 2ay back from Milton Keynes, there was a clunk, wiper blade had somehow contacted the boot spoiler, then another clunk where the while arm fell off, if you're from mk and coming past IKEA on v7 Saxon street (hallowed ground where the legendary sanctuary music arena used to be) then you may see it.

My T4 is smoking. Like, a lot. Grey smoke, I suspect it's over-fuelling.
Ideas please! |
