First Fit - Dual Solex ADDHE
Hi Guys
Thought you would be interested in the first fit of the Solex 45ADDHE carbs I plan to install on my new build B20. Although it may appear a tight fit this is in fact an optical illusion with about 30-40mm from the steering knuckle and the other potential conflict the clutch master cylinder which as a good 15-20mm clearance. This is without shimming the engine mount or skimming the manifold. Another plus point was the throttle linkage appears to be a straight line to existing bulkhead fitting. I'm positive that the existing throttle linkage can fit. Other changes are the choke which on the Solex is just one cable but i have an old chocke cable which I will adapt to a single cable. Now I know they fit I will strip, ultrasonically clean, then rebuild with new gaskets and then a rolling road session. These are NOS genuine RSport kit. I have the complete kit as detailed in the RSport catalogues. Intended for the 140 range they can also fit the 1800 range. Clearly there has been some thought in the manifolds with both sets being angled upwards and away from the main bulkhead. Won't use the mechanical fuel pump but an electric Carter rotary vane. http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share Russ Last edited by tdz840; Mar 1st, 2013 at 20:28. |

http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...er_media_share If people are thinking of side drafts then these Volvo manifolds are the way to go. Long inlet tracts Lots(as opposed to other options!) of space Space to install K&Ns/ inlet plenum/fresh air feed without mucking about cutting inner wings. One of the suppliers has developed a neat solution which also overcomes the 'traditional' conflicts. I was considering this before I had trialed fit the Solex manifolds, however it's clear they won't be needed. Plus at over £400 with shipping and tax it would have been an expensive option. Also remember Solex, Weber and Dellorto all have the same inlet face so manifolds can be used with either. Russ |

These come up as Private Album for me. Could you just paste in the IMG urls please.
I'm reluctatnt to move to the new Photobucket. Tried it, didn't like it, as using it for forum pics was very clunky. That might have improved now. |

Derek
Will have a go but this was my first go with the new photobucket, necessary as I'm using IPAD which the older system didn't see to support. Anyway hopefully this will work http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psae854f51.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps62cc8ca2.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psc5c7a23c.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps2fca7a09.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps2ec46cd6.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps1ee3c26d.jpg Hopefully these will work. If not let me know and will have to use the tried and rusted method Russ |

Fitted up the SU linkage
Works a treat, may need a slight 'kink' in the throttle bar to carb linkage so it runs parallel. Contacted the Greek guy on eBay to give me price on his SS throttle linkages but tweaked to my requirements The Ram pipes go on no issues but the K&Ns I got with the kit are a tight fit. Plan to fit foam socks with alloy ram pipes. The fuel hoses that came with the kit look old, unused but not ideal, intend to replace these with an aeroquip type fittings http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psd269ff5f.jpg Russ |

Nearly there. Just click on IMG to the right of your picture, you've a choice of four types, and you'll see the box to the right change to copied. Return to your post and right click. Select paste and the url will be added. If you have a lot of pics to add, open PB in a new tab so you can click back and forth easier.

Hi Russ, I couldn't help but notice that 'Ruddspeed' logo. Was your car modified by Ruddspeed back when it was new or is that just something that's been added on at some point.
I only as as there is now a Ruddspeed site, www.ruddspeed.com and a facebook page www.facebook.com/ruddspeed If you'd like to add it to the list of Ruddspeed cars just send me a PM and I'll send my email address. If your interested I've attached the set up on my 1970 Amazon... Cheers Peter |

All an issue on the RHD cars. The manifolds availablle from webcon, manglista etc either impact on the steering or hit the clutch, However the volvo manifolds appear to mitigate these issues Russ |
