On a run from Southampton to Bournemouth and back again (72 miles) I used 7 litters of petrol works out to be about 44 MPG in my 440 1.8 Si (1994).

I just went to thetford forrest and back from ipswich, 100 mile round trip, then to somerset and all round somerset and places and then back to ipswich in total including the trip to thetford is 732.2 miles. mainly on the motorways, using some weird roads that the satnav took us down, but did get us there quicker.

the mpg calculator
(incase you missed it before) has figured out that for my 2.0i 440 glt with generally 5 adults in the car has done using about 90 litres of fuel (becuase im parnoid about running out) 36.97 mpg @ 99.9 p per litre averaging 12.28 p per mile.

now is that good or not?the calulator says its ok, i dont think its bad for the amount of miles that i did.

anyone?

Hi,

I had a full tank when starting my home journey picking up my new V90..
A gas guzzler if ever there was one!!! But hey, it is a nice car..

Traveled from near dartford - north circular and M1 - M1 with 2 accident hold-ups and on to Nottingham.
Filled up in SinBin and calculated an average of 26mpg for the 160 odd miles.

Not so bad, I think, given the hold-ups in traffic in London and then again on the M1..

Just thought I'd give this a mention. I always thought I was quite an economical driver, I rarely go over 3000 revs, and generally keep close to 2000. But went on that site and picked up one particular, simple tip. Simply by "rolling" up to roundabouts + completely taking my foot off the gas downhill etc my mpg this week went up to 31 (from 28). That's around 10%, and well worth considering. Nothing else has changed, I still have done roughly the same distances with the same weight etc. Worth thinking about.

Default 480 Mpg

The lowest I have ever had is 26mpg when running solely on local town journeys.

Normal is around 32 - 33mpg when some longer journeys have been included.

A 'long' journey at a steady 60mph(ish) to Scotland returned over 44mpg!

I have always been pleased with its mpg particularly as I do not have a light right foot! (Even at 19 years old and 180,000 + miles it will still return well into the 40s on a long run. (unlike my V40 which struggles to do 25mpg!)

The frustrating journey was borrowing my father's 760 some years ago, driving it with 'kid gloves' to Scotland and getting 24mpg - on the way back I drove it hard and obtained 22mpg - making all the effort on the way up of little benefit!

Hi,

Not sure so I will have to look it up.
But I filled up my V90 a couple of days ago - first time.
The tanks was not quite empty but it took 63 litres. Was maybe 1/8 of the tank left.
I know my 94 takes about 67 litres, when empty and the light on.

So I suspect it is 80 odd litres..

A fair sized tank!
