v40 REPLACEMENT SPEAKERS
Hi
I am new here. I own an S-reg V40 with 114K on the clock. I have a 6-speaker stereo and I have replaced the standard head with a Sony CDX R450. Only problem (and it existed before I changed the head) is that the speakers have no bass at all - they distort if you push the bass to high. So I have just got an under seat subwoofer to try and help with this but it got me thinking.......what after-market speakers fit the V40? I cannot find any info about speakers which will just replace whats there....and I don't want to get into re-modelling the car just to accept some new speakers. Please help! Thanks. |

The fronts are 13cm drivers with tweeters in the dash. You can buy little convertors to mount standard sized 13cm components in the front with ease. The rears in my S40 are also 13cm but i don't know about the V40....
Car Audio Direct sell the front adapters and a good range of 13cm components..... (do a google search!). How do you find the underseat sub? I've been thinking about doing this at some point in the future, i don't want to mount in the boot as i need that space! |

Thanks that would be great!
Hopefully a V40 owner will be along soon to answer the rear speaker issue... |

Fitted the subwoofer yesterday and what a difference it has made! The whole job took about 15mins (and I am no expert!) but the improvement in sound is incredible.
I wired it into the wiring harness (using snap connectors)for the stereo so as to not touch the volvo wiring and ran the cables down the side of the centre console so no holes.....really quick and simple. I need to spend a little time sorting the crossover but that a simple enough job. The subwoofer is only cheap (£39) so I see it that I have saved a fortune on upgrading the speakers....although that may come in future!! |

Hi Chaps.....sorry for the delay been away for a while.
I got it from Halfords - its a Ripspeed. Retails at £49 but there is 20% off at the moment so it was only £39. Its hidden under the seat so no one can see it and it kicks out some much needed bottom end......the whole sound is now much louder and I finally have a stereo that I am happy with. |
