Agreed. better title

I thought I read something before about a Northern BKV, but I could only find a thread about a Southern one. Tbh I think the expense is a bit much for a long weekend away, but we'll see how the thread goes. Where abouts the the main event held?

Donal, I'm a bad sleeper, although I've discovered if I get up at 5ish when I wake rather than toss and turn I can go back to bed an hour later and sleep another couple of hours lol

I've roughly worked out prices for ferry and hotel, obviously if there is enough interest I will make some phone calls and get some firm prices. I've based these on a car with 2 sharing.
Its the 16th of May and its in Dorset. The ferry, Belfast - Stranraer return is £200 approx, going out on Saturday (15th) morning and returning Sunday (17th) night. Its almost an 1000 mile return trip, which is alot to cover in one day, so maybe the possibilty of staying over night in or around Birmingham or maybe further North on the Saturday night?
There is Dublin to Holyhead service, but the dates don't go that far into the future although for me this would be a prefered route. Though distance wise it is similar, but were taking 100 miles off the journey through the mainland, which leaves around 400 miles instead of 500.
Hotel prices for 2 nights based to 2 sharing is around £250 for B&B, again, this is just the first hotel I found on Google and they are only a guide price.

Thought and comments folks???

If there was a Northern BKV it would be better for us, but we'll try this and see how we go.

Andy
Or try driving down to Rosslare and catch the ferry to Pembroke - maybe even an "Irish Volvo Convoy" ideas???

Hi Andy,

If you go to the Souhtern meet, you might want to spend some time around Dorset as it's a wonderful part of the country. Spent many holidays around Milton Abbas as a kid.

Also, if you happen to be around in early September you have to go to the Dorset Steam Fair....it's the law ; ) If you do go, book your accomodation early.

Cheers,

Rich

A bit early but will there be a C&C section at the Southern BKV?

I think you might get a better response if you post this in the main "Southern" thread (this one is about the convoy from Ireland).

cheers

James
