S60 Recall - Steering

There are a number of posts regarding steering problems and I was wondering if any S60 owners had received a recall notice?

I bought my S60 T5 from new in July 2003 and haven't had any problems with steering or anything else but have not received any communication from volvo about the recall of cars built in the last 12 months that was reported on the BBC website last month:

I haven't had a chance to speak to my dealer directly yet however seeing the number of posts about steering issues I might take the initiative.

Hopefully this will go some way to answering some of those earlier posts.

Well, I received the recall letter last week, although I have already got it booked in for tomorrow having spoken with the dealer directly. In this case I like the phrase "better safe than sorry" ;)

The reason for the recall was given as "... the nut securing the front control arm to the spindle on certain S80, V70 and S60 models may lose its initial tension. Under certain driving conditions, this may cause the vehicle to become less responsive and the driver may experience steering wheel play..."

As the BBC online article said, this only affects certain S80, V70 and S60 cars built in the last 12 months so this may not be the cause of your problems but hopefully helpful information to anyone that thinks their car may fall into this category.

The dealer was very helpful and accomodating so I'm still enjoying my car.

My S60 was built in Feb 2003 (reg 1 Mar 2003) and my dealer has told me the recall does not apply to my car. Has anyone actually had a recall, and if so, what was the bild date of their car
