Default Replacing cargo area side window glass (945)

Hello - Has anyone any experience of replacing the cargo area side glass on a 945? I busted the offside glass at the weekend (with a bicycle...) and don't want the aggro of claiming on the insurance. The glass looks like it is bonded into position - can I replace this myself? What equipment is needed to cure the adhesive (if any)?

Polyutherane glass adhesive. The old is removed cutting it with a very sharp wire. You may have some luck heating it up first with a hot air gun.

And make sure you get the right glass - with or without the inbuilt antenae.

You can scrape it off with a tool which does look abit like a cheesewire or this is another with a angled edge and a roller. I'll try and find a supplier reference later.

The glass adhesive comes in a caulking type tube so you will need a suitable applicator and I believe it has a short life once opened.

The TSB (8-84-910) references a 2k PUR adhesive kit
for windshields (and rear windows) 380 ml P/N 1161458-3
extra cartridges are P/N 1161459-1
for other windows 220ml P/N 1161382-5

(Note for anyone with an 850, the 580ml is P/N 1161381-7 and is for the 850 windshield)

On TSB 8-84 908 there is also reference to using RIM activator P/N 1161373-4 to ensure PUR bonding where there are mixed surfaces and which should be applied with the felt brush supplied in the bonding kit. The RIM activator evaporates rapidly and a window is ready for bonding in 2 mins

TP31749/1 10/90 for body repairs:glasss - if anyone wants to send me a copy (or the original on loan) I'll scan and upload to the members area.

You can also use the silicone sealer made for fish tanks which obviously is made for constant immersion in water and does'nt need any activater. It is easily available from garden centres and aquatics shops.
