Cheers Swedishandgerman. Got a fitting kit for the 078 one through so going to fit that without the vacuum attached. Just got to recon it and give it some paint. But if I get greif I will try and hook the vacuum it up later.

I've gone back to working on my exhaust pipe today. Doing a bit of grinding to bring it out to the gasket size but blown my drill up.

Longer wheel studs are also on their way.
Why does Volvo use those little tubular spacers between the inlet and exhaust? I've not seen them on other engines. Just that it looks like you can really open up the ports if you got rid of them.

Are you refering to the rings that that locate the inlet manifold to teh head? If so the idea of them is to give a smooth flow from teh manifold into the head and improve flow. Opening the port up in this area would flow no more air and only reduce teh gas speed most likely resulting in a drop of power. The area of restriction is around the valve and a valve guide. in teh head.

A few pictures to show what I have been up to.
Hole by indicator on right wing.

Repair patch

Rusty distributor.

Finished item fitted with lumenition performance ignition.

Exhaust manifold showing excess metal compared to gasket. I am in the process of widening this out and cutting off the excess.

Holy wing (holey, but I blashemed a lot when I found this)

Bare bonnet from spare car.

There are quite a few issues with it. I'm either going to repair it or strip my bonnet.

Car at present. I'm still doing the filler work and have some more grinding and panel fit work to do.

My birthday cake. Sorry about the use of flash someone else took the pics as I was too drunk to focus. All I can say is this was as good as an amazon cake could get. My girlfriend gained many brownie points.

So I have been trying to fit my new wheels and to do so I needed to fit longer wheel studs. In the process of using a press to push them in the drum has flexed and is now bent. I had bracing under the drum whilst doing it and it still bent. Has anyone else had problems doing this? Are there any other methods to put them in? I have tried pulling them through with a nut but it just stripped the thread out of the nut.
