Rear camera and sat nav
Hi All,
Just joined today bought a 2010 XC90 SE PREMIUM on Saturday, theres a few bit and bobs I would like to sort. One of them is about cameras and sat nav. My car has a sat nav, and looking at the boot also a rear camera (not sure if this is standard or retro fitted) however, how does it connect to the sat nav, and does anyone know how to get the rear view on the screen? cheers Sean |

Put car in reverse and screen pops up (if down) and shows rear cam view.
Works well Day and night Has fisheye lens Uses digital signal processing Has guides that vary with steering angle Perfect

It connects to a rear view camera module in the cargo area 8left hand side), and this sends a NTSC video signal to the navigation computer under the left hand front seat. The navigation computer sends a command to the screen to switch from RGB to NTSC input when the car is put into reverse. The camera signal on the NTSC input to the nav then appears on the screen. The camera listens to the CAN bus via the REM. The nav also listens to the CAN bus. Both react to the current gear position broadcast on the CAN bus.

Check the following: Does R show in the dash when in reverse? If so, then gearbox gearselector switch is OK Do reverse lamps light up in reverse? If so, then Reverse signal is travelling over CAN bus OK Does screen switch away from normal nav screen when in reverse? If so, then nav is properly reacting to Reverse signal and is switching to NTSC Reverse Cam input Use VIDA, communicate with PAC, and switch on reverse camera alignment picture. Does picture appear on nav? if so, everything from PAC to screen is OK If nav screen is switching away from normal signal, and nothing appears, then check: Reverse cam video signal on nav computer under front left seat (there's also a loom connector under the carpet) Reverse cam controller (PAC) module in rear left well under the REM (velcroed to the body of the car) Check for power and ground on the PAC module Check for video out on the PAC module using a scope
