Default ECU Upgrade - who'll insure me

I am going to get either a BSR / RICA / TME upgrade done to the ECU on my V70R, deciding which one to go for is a pretty entertaining decision

But now the upgrade looks like it might not happen (sob, sniff) because bastardly Norwich Union said sorry we can't insure chipped cars. Their quote is £500 fully comp, with me as a named driver on my mother's name. (She's 53, full no claims, clean history, I'm 27 clean history).

I spoke to A-Plan who quoted me £550 for the same insurance and then £750 with the car chipped which seems a rather pricey increase. I spoke to Keith Michaels and they were waaaaaay out. From memory Elephant won't touch chipped cars either (bastards). Any recommendations on a decent alternative?

VOI insure chipped volvos. Try Chris Knott as well. I think they're the VOC's recognised broker.

Thumbs up

I use Chris Knott for both my T-5s using Highway - the same insurers as Pedro. They are the official club insurer, I have found them very understanding and helpful with insuring a modified car as they are quite knowledgable. The club also get commision from Chris Knott which goes back into the club when a member takes up insurance with them!

I'm with Adrian Flux Insurance, I shopped around a LOT of insurers and they gave me the cheapest quote, even compared to Chris Knott.
