Theres the proof in the pudding if i ever saw it.

Its common sense really, a mirror glass isnt going to be much different if bought from halfords or Volvo (maybe slightly out of shape). But a mechanical part. I want to put the same part back on my car that volvo fitted and which has lasted x number years. However, if its stupidly expensive, then you have to take a view.

Indeed. It could be that I have been mis-informed about ScanTech.....however, the short fact is I can't afford £40 for a ball joint so the £13 one it is!! Frankly, as long as it gets through this MOT and out-lasts my ownership of the car, then economy wins every time!!

My dad bought some lower arms off Ebay for his toyota avensis. they came with new lower ball joints already fitted so he thought it was great. A year later it failed on the ball joint. I did him a favour and went to the local toyota dealer and ordered new ball joints for him, a mechanic overheard me saying that it had failed the MOT on the ball joint and remarked that it was strange as their normally good for the life of the vehicle. His face when i said it was an aftermarket part said it all.
