Smile Strathmore Volvo - Perth

Just recieved more 1st class service, again, from Strathmore Volvo, Perth, I phoned them this morning regarding an 'Emission system requiring service' message which was displayed on my V70XC, they told me just to take the car up and they would link it up to the computer to diagnose the problem.
On arrival, car was taken to be diagnosed right away, and the wife and I served complimentary coffee as we waited. Approx 15 mins later, fault had been diagnosed and engineers explained the problem to me, and a rough cost of repair.
Part required not in stock, so they sent for one in Glasgow, 120 mile round trip, we were driven into Perth by a very keen and young trainee and done some shopping. Telephone call to my mobile about three hours later to say my car was repaired and ready, free taxi back to dealership, car all ready and running better than ever, all this plus a 12% discount on my bill, that's what I call service.

Perhaps they were worried that if you were not well looked after the rest of us would descend on their forecourt again and spend the morning pawing over their nice polished showroom cars!

Good news - service does still exist in places.

Never tried Taggarts, but would not go back to Arnold Clark 'Volvo' Stirling again, give me Strathmore anytime, they are also very good at supplying and posting out Volvo parts.
Kevin.

I find Barnetts in Dundee very good but it's great to get this recommendation for Strathmore should I ever loose faith in Barnetts (which, depending on the outcome of an ongoing saga, could happen. Now's not the time to go into that though and my impression of Barnetts still remains high).

Out of interest, and if you don't mind me asking, what age / approx value is your V70 XC. Interested to know if dealers give preferential treatment to owners of newer / more expensive cars or if they treat all cars the same. Thanks.

I still go back to the Inverness dealers for some things (parts and work). They now come under the 'Arnold' banner but the same people are there from the 'Autosales' days - good folk, good work and good treatment.

In answer to your question 850Chris, my V70xc is a 2001 model, so not worth an awful lot, I don't use Strathmore for regular servicing etc, as they are located over 100 miles from me.
Thanks,
Kevin.
