Sticky Door Handle
The drivers door external handle of my V70 is sticking when it is pulled. Hard to describe but when you pull the door handle it feels 'notchy' i.e. not smooth like the other handles and often takes a couple of goes to open the door. The door does then open fine and I don't have the same issue when using the internal handle but concerned it may point to some sort of imminent issue.
Any ideas what the cause and solution may be? Thanks |

Mine sometimes stays 'pulled out' after opening the door although will spring back into place quite readily when given a nudge. I would guess the mechanism needs some lubrication.

I've had the same issue with the passenger side door handle over the last three years. I've had good luck pulling the handle forward and spraying a liberal amount of lubricant inside the door. Seems like I have to reapply every 18 months or so.

Thanks Pierre, I will give it a try, what did you use? a spray grease or some thin silicone spray or similar?

Mine does that sometimes, I've decided it's because I'm tall and subsequently pull the handle up as well as out. After seven years I wonder if it's had an effect.

My driver’s door handle has been doing this since I got the car a couple of years ago (at 69,000 miles); I keep meaning to do something about it but a busy life with a couple of young kids means I haven’t, and now (100,000 miles) it’s not any worse.
I will sort it soon (maybe tomorrow now this has jogged my memory!), just wanted to put you at ease that in my experience it’s unlikely to completely fail on you in the short term...
