Default cant get 4th gear on Automatic Gearbox (S40

My S40 2.0 CD Auto will not go into 4th gear.

This seems really odd.

My volvo dealer seems unable to decipher the problem or interpret the ECU diagnostic printout. There are no obvious indications that anything else is wrong.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Can anyone help?

Default RE: cant get 4th gear on Automatic Gearbox

Hi there,

I have an auto as well and it seems strange also. The car is fine but the gearchange is a bit violent under heavy accelleration and if it is in sports mode all is ok apart from the rough change but when in normal it seems to be slipping / hunting as it goes int 4th and almost seems to have an overdrive and judders a bit as it goes in. Took it to my local non franchised garage and he checked the levels and told me they were all ok and that an independant gearbox specialist should be able to identify the problem as some dealers send the cars to them for apprasal before comencing with the overhaul. If you get any joy then let me know who sorted it?!

Cheers
