Complete intake system for a B230K(H)
Might be whistling Dixie here, but if you don't ask you don't get!
Air filter housing to intake manifold with a Pierburg or Stromberg carb. Anything but a Cisac really. R |

Air filter housing to intake manifold with a Pierburg or Stromberg carb. Sorry, I don't have the bits you want, but you are certainly on the right track. I converted a Pulsair engine once, doing away with the gurgling pipes and nasty Renix ignition. To blank off the Pulsair pipes in the exhaust ports, I used normal Volvo 12mm bolts held in place with clamping washers. now you can bin those rusty pipes. I used a normal B200E exhaust manifold to do away with the two ports there, though could have blanked them also. The Inlet obviously lines straight up, and be sure to get the matching throttle cable and bracket (I used an old 175 Stromberg). Being unimpressed with French Ignition systems, and not too keen on all those vac pipes, I switched to a normal B200e Distributor and power stage. Just connect the blue wire to Ign +VE, also the electric jet if using a later carb. ignore the TDC sensor, it is no longer needed. Timing was about 12 *BTDC As I recollect, it went very well indeed, being a high compression 2.3 with a dead simple and reliable carb. Best of luck tracking down these bits, they are out there- try contacting your local racers (they don't bite!), or an ad in classic car weekly, you can then free your car of its gurgling noises and actually overtake again! Regards, James. |

Cheers for all the info heckflosse, should prove very useful. At this stage I'm just looking to see what kit I can get the hold of!
Did you not have problems with emmissions after dissconnecting the Pulsair? My ignition is the Bendix Rex setup and seems to be working OK, maybe fire in some new leads shortly. My overtake problems were coming from a punctured 2nd choke diaphram on the Cisac, so I yanked it out and put a spring on. Now the thermistor has packed in and the idle jet is icing up. All the usual nonsense I suppose! Cheers. |

As you probably know I converted one to Stromberg once, pulling out all the Pulsair, EGR. Renix stuff.
I never had any problems passing the emissions test. My first MOT was a bit rich after tuning by ear, so I got a Gunsons. It worked a treat, and I got the CO figure right down low with the car running well. |

I remember drilling out jets on those Cisac things when new ( a Volvo factory bulletin mod, no less) to improve driveability, but they always were a bit hopeless! Happy to help, James. |

Right, I'll concentrate on the Stromberg option then. Am I right in thinking this is sometimes referred to as a CD carb? Gower and Lee had one listed at £175, but it had been nabbed before I got there.
