Default Lake District Meet - Penrith to Kirkstone Pass Inn..11th Oct

VolvoTuning is teaming up with the Volvo Enthusiasts Club and are arranging a meet and drive in the Lakes next Sunday.....

We will meet at 11:30 on Sunday 11th October at Rheged.

The address and post code for your Sat Nav is Redhills, Penrith, CA11 0DQ.

From here we will form a convoy and tour through the Lakes eventually arriving at the Kirkstone Pass Inn for a hearty lunch, drinks and time to chat.

This pub is the highest in the UK so make sure your clutch and brakes are up to the Job.

All Volvo makes and models are welcome and with the VEC team present it'll be great to see some of the older red block cars on the day.

Hope you can make it....

Nowhere near and no true Yorkshireman is going to let you get away with that!

Highest pubs in England:

1. 1,730 ft, Tan Hill Inn, North Yorkshire.
2. 1,690 ft, The Cat & Fiddle Inn, A537 between Buxton and Macclesfield.
3. 1,500 ft, Traveller's Rest, nr Flash on A53 between Buxton and Leek.
4. 1,480 ft, Kirkstone Pass Inn, between Windermere and Patterale, Cumbria.

Anyway - have a great day!

I'm trying to rearrange my life. Sounds like another brilliant meet. If Carlsberg did Volvo meets they wouldn't be a patch on VT MEETS!!!

Salut!

Let us know if you can make it Pookie.

Rather than going up the M6, I'm considering going via the the A56 from Edenfield, A6068 to Nelson, A682 to Long Preston and the A65/A6 to Penrith or going North at either Settle or Kirkby Lonsdale towards the A66 and coming in that way!

I would have liked to but having just returned from a 'boys only' week away in the Lakes getting my pass stamped would prove difficult...

On my doorstep but uninsured V70R and other stuff on that weekend mean it's a no from me!

Kirkstone is good and all but it's not exactly a challenge from Penrith! From the Kirkstile Inn you want to head down the Struggle into Ambleside, head out towards Coniston, turning right into the Langdales to pick up Wrynose and the Hardknott Passes. Hardknott will drop you down into Eskdale, from there you want to head up the coast via Calder Bridge, Ennerdale Bridge and Loweswater, to pick up Honister Pass. Drop down the other side into Borrowdale, which is a straight road to Keswick, and before you know it you're back on the A66 not far from where you started!

If you want to see plenty of the Lakes and put your Volvo through its paces that's about as good as it gets IMO. Happy to provide more detailed instructions for anyone who fancies that to make a day of it!

The carpark before the Kirkstile Inn on the right gives views like this, worth pulling in for a snap!

This is of the current car, but up at Was****er which is a bit off the beaten track if you don't have much time, but a really nice quiet spot.
