Cool Are plugs different nowadays?

How often should you change plugs? Used to be they were 12k miles item or annually. Have things altered some time in the last 40 years without me noticing? I bet they have!

I usually change mine every 2 years.. Couldn't see a change period on the 700/900 FAQ but I think that the change is scheduled at either 36 or 48 K miles??
So yes, service life of these is pretty long..

The red block engines do like good condition plugs and run smother, so I change mine at 10,000m to get the best out of the car ,esplicley turbo cars. but they will do more (standard plugs ie BP6ES/BP7ES),with out too much problems,If you can notice the diffreance then they were over due.
For what they cost ,I would reather change them.
If you drive your car hard then go for the 7's,if not or it is getting on and uses a bit of oil then go for the 6's
Regards Roger.

Default Spark plug misfire/life

My 940s (Turbo) only gets 2 to 3k out of new plugs before it misses under load. They look fine. Have checked the gap & made sure they're clean. I find them better with a 29thou gap but still don't last that long. I've tried Champion, Nipondenso were better. Any help?

Well done for getting the engine to run on Champion plugs!

Use NGK, Denso or genuine Volvo plugs

Avoid Champion and Bosch

This - 100% !

I'm using NGK BPR6ES in my 1996 2.3LPT/B230FK

It might be worthwhile checking your HT leads as well. If they're the originals it might be time to get some new ones on there - Bougicourd are the OEM and personally I wouldn't use anything else.

you can still get volvo plugs from the dealer they are the best you will get anywhere.
Change interval is 30,000 miles and they are pre set. NO lubrication required, grease goes hard with the heat over a long period. I wouldn't mind £1 for every set I have changed !
