child safety seat
Am required to care for my 14 month old grandson soon and need advice on a child safety seat suitable for my 1986 240 GL saloon

Your best bet is to go along to a Mothercare or similar, have a look at what's current, ask their advice and, if it's a store with adjacent parking, they'll make sure it fits correctly for you. I do recall that our old 340's rear seat belts were not very long and I had to purchase a securing strap from Britax which bolted onto the seat belt anchorage points.
I know this will prompt some people to jump in and recount their horror experiences with Mothercare, but every retailer will employ some numpties. Just make sure the salesperson you talk to at whatever store seems to know their stuff. As for makes, I've stuck with Britax for all 5 of my seats with no problems.
