Door lock
Driver's door won't open from outside, key turns and lits the internal button but pushing the button that's part of the handle does nothing, I can't see what's supposed to happen or work out how it works
Any photos or diagrams of this mechanism? Any suggestions or fixes |

Welcome. Year and model is necessary for folks to offer help. And if you’ve had this problem before, or you did any related work prior to the fault becoming apparent. Also is the car new to you, or has it been working properly for some time until now?

It's a 66 Amazon wagon, had it 5 months, it's been fine up to now then stopped working, played around with the back of the handle and sprayed it with WD40 and it's back to working, last weekend it stopped working but a few sharp press and quick release of the button had it working
Either something is sticking or loose between the button and the lever that releases the latch |

In my experience the inside of doors often get wet. Things rust...
...when things start behaving as you describe it is probably best to dismantle - inspect - clean and replace any parts that can not be saved before things stop working again (which usually happens when it is least convenient)

Best to take off the door card so you can see what is going on with the mechanism. Lubrication is good. WD-40 isn't a lubricant. GT-85 is fine along with other proper maintenance sprays.
