mysterious clonk
hi well i'm at a bit of a loss now bottom arms went bad on my v70 all the usual symptons diving left under braking etc after inspection changed arms shocks and mounts(top and bottom) drop links and n/s outer cv joint that had been clicking for weeks car now drives lovely and smoothly but i have a random clunk develop it happens when slowing but not just under braking when just coasting cant find any play anywhere other than a very small amount of movement at the top mounting bush(bulkhead to engine).
one small concern i have is that i had a hell of a game getting circlip to locate on cv and have a nagging doubt it may of come astray the noise is a single clunk seems to be coming from n/s/f any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Just a thought.... could it be the outer rear suspension bush?
One of these beasties: My off-side one went last year whilst visiting UK. Had it done in a Volvo Indie at £250!!! They are a pain to get out! Symptoms were a 'clonk' occasionally over rough surfaces. Despite it being a rear suspension bush, the clonk felt like it was below the drivers footwell. Have a look just forward of the rear wheel on the suspension arm thing. Should be a nice rubber bush. Mine was gleaming shiny metal on metal Good luck.
