Default Parking brake mechanism

Anyone changed the parking brake mechanism ? The foot operated mechanism.

All cables are attached, back to front and at the handle, but i have no ratchet when pressing the foot brake to engage.

Ive ordered an eBay recycled part to replace for £45/

Any tips to look for when replacing ?

It is probably the cable from the handle to the pedal sticking rather than the pedal unit faulty ...

If it is not the above then the mechanism is fairly easy to change. Make sure the one you buy is the later (post 2005) manual adjust type with the adjuster in the front cable. The earlier auto adjuster ones will still fit but they are very problematic and any still around are likely to be well worn, best avoided.

You maybe right Clan, Ive tried squirting it with silicone inside etc..... no joy.

Ill have more luck with one off a car and letting it soak for a few days before fitting.
