Default Cleaning Water Repellent Windows/ Mirrors

Noted the XC90 has these specially treated water repellent windows and mirrors. My van is a fair age now can i assume that this treatment is long gone and wash these items whichever which way or is it something that lasts and if so what is the best practice for washing the window/ mirrors while also preserving this treatment.

Also in general are these safe in automatic car washes (obviously disabling auto wiper).

Didn't think the "coating" wore off TBH still fine on my 2009 tank, it can be a pain to clean and polish though. I do notice the worst area is actually the rear window .. however I have found a dilute 3-5% of TFR (traffic film remover) cleaner (I use CarPlan professional) sprayed on to the windows and allowed to dwell for a couple of mins, then washed of thoroughly really does the trick ... don't let it stay too long or it will remove any body wax treatments you have applied if it gets to the bodywork.

hope that helps.

Robin
