The photos leave something to be desired....

I'm no expert on the PV but I am in the process of restoring one for myself and have parted a few of them out....

First I would ask for a whole slug of photos of the body. Rust is a killer in these cars. From the outside it looks fine. Ask for the trunk liner to be pulled and get a shot of the area right in front of the lower lip. There is a low point there that is normally the first place to rust out. Also ask for the seats to be pulled out (it's a 15 second job in these cars as you simply pull the adjustor release and then slide the seat forward) and floor mats pulled up. Again you are looking for rust in the front (under the pedals) and rear (the footwells infront of the rear seat). There are also body lines (seams) in the rockers near the front and back of the door opennings. If these are not pressent, there has been body work done in these areas.

If it's running and driving, I would go pay the guy a visit and test drive it. They are great cars but don't drive like a modern car.

Hi,

I'm working on one myself at the moment. The two bars where the engine is mounted on ( don't know how you call them in English ) that also support the front end of the car tent to rust as wel, just like they do on Amazone's. Poke a screwdriver in it.

Check the underside of the doors, simply open them, and look on the underside. Check all floorboards under the carpet.

All door rubbers need checked al well, and try the front and rear window rubbers underneat, sometimes there is some moist hidden, that took time to rust....

Keep us informed.
