Very entertaining and my first thought was well done Hammond and cursing James for ruining a perfectly good Volvo, but hey ho that tv for you, top gear style. Can't wait for part 2

XC60, I'd forgotten about the XC60, yes that too. XC60/90 either flavour, brilliant hairdressers' cars. Save for a Freelander or a Vitara, there is no finer examples in Automotivce Art.

But not for me, you can try to hard to be butch.

But TG... can't wait for next week. My dose of Sunday-night silliness.

An XC60 or 90, a hairdressers' car? What are you on man?

I still haven't watched this yet, I'm worried I'll just end up hiding behind the sofa!

Nah,its a good laugh mate. As I have said before, the camera work and the idiocy of the three presenters is well worth watching.

Well OK then, but you'll not deny it's the badge of suburbia, the wannabee footballers' wives choice. When did you last see one covered in honest cr*p, with dents and cow poo, stinking of stale deisel. I never have. Go on, I'm waiting... show me dozen??? I see most of them, queued outside the school gates. No problem I 'spose, but who we kidding here?

I rest my case, they're a hairdessers car?? "What am I on??? Open your eyes, mate, if I were you, I'd have a look down the back of the sofa, you've lost your sexual compass...

XC90? Hairdresseer. Definite.

"Where are you going on your holidays..."

XC60 / XC90 won't fit in the "Estate car for under £1500" category. Firstly, its an SUV, secondly .. pure cost.

The XC60/XC90 may be cute offroad (does a slightly muddy field count as offroad?), but I'd still rather take a Defender or older Discovery on the trek they are doing. Something where the diffs have a lever and you can feel it working, not a button and a little red LED on the dash. There are too many useless home comforts in the Volvo XC ranges to make them useful at anything other than picking the kids up or towing the dampervan around.

LOL...I am on my second XC60, I daren't ask what you think of me... (although it was me that suggested the XC60 to you!!)..and mine is normally parked at Tesco or Asda btw...lol..!!! My first 60 spent most of its life off road. It was fantastic at that - much better than any Land Rover ever could be - Why? Because off road meant in the garage being fixed...!!!!!

The largest useless thing fitted to the XC60 are the tyres. Why fit Pirelli P Zeros. Useless in the snow or mud, which makes AWD pointless.....!!!

Volvorocks: You clearly don't take yourself too seriously...

Let me say, I've no issue with women using the XC range as shopping trollies and prams, but they're jsut a bit pointless. If that is how thye're going to be used, great, but they do nothing that an estate car would not do far better. So I ask, what is so wrong with a honest no-faking, estate car?... something you may have noticed, Volvo do rather well. Cars can say a lot about the people that drive them, and not always the impression their owners want to convey, when i see a faker 4x4 I'm alwasy left thinking, if the driver will fake that, what else is fake?

Although I have to say even Land Rover's have become a bit fake, or mincing lately, worse... drive the latest RR and you'll look like a footballer or Gangsta rapper. And the debender... nuff said, they started butching them up and the message got lost somewhere.

Once they started fitting them with coils springs they went from honest utility to Old Compton Street in under 20 years. Dear me... look at that 'thing' on the right...

If that's what somebody wants to say, I'm sure an ear-ring in one ear would be cheaper

I'd better shut-up, or the PC brigadde will be along in a mo'

Anyways, Top Gear was particulary good, I howled with a real belly-chuckle to the 'log' doing for the rear screen of the BMW and the 'Primary school sports-day' judging crteria... great, and vastly silly TV. Well done to all on that show

It can only be a matter of time before someone of this parish suggests the Volvo for this should have been the 'thing' , that hairdressers' car of choice... that triumph of marketing over reason, the Croydonesque XC90. (waits for flak from suburban types)
You obviously haven't seen the threads in the xc90 section where some of the guys actually take them offroading with the LR boys . Okay they are not proper offroaders but they are more than capable of getting you out of a muddy field with caravan on the back as many of us xc90 owners can testify too .
Maybe those of us who aren't hairdressers should have trained to be one as the money must be good to afford such cars .
