Default 99 V70 boot lock issues

This morning my wife shut the boot lid whilst the rest of the car had locked and the lid refused to catch/lock.

Drove back home with the tailgate down, rattling but not on the catch. The dash light was not on.

Got home, fiddled with catch and managed to get the lid to shut, but is not shut tight. It's like a door which hasn't been shut hard enough!

The car is perfectly driveable, will lock, but the lights don't flash to say its locked and the dash light is now on.

Help, as I don't feel like leaving the car in Morrisons car park not properly secured.

Mine did that; it's possible that the striker that is attached to the bodywork has shifted a little bit.

Make sure the lock still locks by using a pen to flick it through the 2 positions, and locking the car. This should make the lights flash as if it's locked IIRC, and at least that will start to narrow down where the problem is.

Car unlocked, open tailgate.

Flick lock to open position, shut boot, still not shut properly.

Lock car, with tailgate up, flick lock to open and alarm sounds.

Very frustrating!
