Volvo garage did its routine service on our V70. Immediately before the service the built-in Sat Nav was working perfectly. Garage phoned us to say their routine electronics testing showed that the disc could not be read - did we want a new system installed (£>1000)? We said no, because the system had been working perfectly immediately before the car went in for a service. Volvo returned the car to us with the sat nav in the open position - it will now do nothing, will not even go up or down and is entirely unresponsive.
Obviously we will go back to the garage with this problem, which seems to have been caused by their testing system, but it would help to know if any one else has experienced a perfectly workable Sat Nav system being returned broken after testing by Volvo (which we hadn't requested)?

i've come across this on volvo trucks with basically the same system screen sliding up from dash have you tried disconnecting the battery that would be the first thing you'd have expected volvo to have tried but as it's the cheapest option it would be the last thing volvo would do
