It's not false though, it is the result they got, it's just how they got it that's the problem. There was nothing in the rules that didn't allow them to used optimised software for the conditions I think. I guess the rules will be rewritten and the Government will go from there.

It's more about morals than rules.

They deliberately written software to fool customers and the test.

I'm not one personally, but many people buy cars with low emissions because they want to help cut pollution.

A car that emits up to 40 times more pollution than it claims is dishonest at best.

Which is why the new VED rates in 2017 will have an negative impact on CO2 levels. No incentive to buy a really low emission car.

The brakes were different, people felt that their lives were threatened - emissions don't mean anything to most people and the fact that the car performs better for them than a government test would be seen as a bonus, not a fault.

I bet that in 2 weeks it won't be mentioned on the TV News and within a month it will dissappered from the papers.

Meant tongue in cheek, it's my way of keeping sane with the EGR issue on my car. In all honesty, I find it hard to believe that this issue is affecting only certain cars. My car has now been through more EGR corrections than I can remember (without reference to my little XC60 folder that I keep in a drawer with all the paperwork). My opinion is that lots of people actually are experiencing reduced engine performance but they are unaware of it.

I am a keen driver but most folk (not the folk on this forum) are less so. I doubt that many of these people would notice the issue unless a turtle or warning appears because the drop-off in performance is progressive. Most of us notice this when the dealer replaces our brakes and then we realise how spongy our old brakes had become, but until that point we never noticed. But for clarity, for me I have only posted EGR related issues on the forum when the warning lights have come up and never just because of a hunch.

Best wishes fellow Volvo people! Have a good day.

Arianne

If you're driving keenly enough for a turtle to appear, I'd suggest you slow down for a while..............

Had a good read up after you posted this and TBH after 2017 there is really no advantage in buying any eco cars, hybrid or otherwise - other than electric

Yet another middle finger to the consumers of this country; led by a total bunch of clueless self centered fcuk wits we are powerless to change !

Don't forget the majority of the tax comes from the use of fuel so an eco car will still give a tax advantage.

I heard on the news an emission test company say that the software VW used cut emissions by 10%, in their tests. The difference between euro 5 and euro 6.
