New glow plugs today. Because it's a bit of a faff to get to them I just bought five new ones without testing the old ones. I tested the old ones when they came out and not one of them was working so it was worth doing.

Collected the front and rear bumpers from the paint sprayer today. When I bought the C70 18 months ago there was a slight rub on one front corner and one on the opposite rear corner. Both had been touched in with a small brush which bugged me as the rest of the car is immaculate. Whilst the bumpers have been away, I removed the wheel arch liners and cleaned them up and blown the silt out that was lurking behind. The car had lived in the fens previously and it is surprising how much silt collects in hidden places - thankfully there is no rust. Next job is to re-assemble the bumpers and then refit to the car.

Having got the rear end cleaned up, refitted the rear bumper and lights etc. It looks so much better without the little scuff marks. Wheel arch liners are back in and mudflaps fitted, so rear end now more or less done.

Had a poke around in the engine bay cleaning that up while the front end is stripped and noticed the power steering reservoir is still leaking slightly - even though I had fitted a new cap. Will order a new reservoir and clean up around the chassis and subframe. Will also change the PAS fluid while I'm in there as it is 15 years old and a change should be good.

Looking good!

Wasn't aware you could get rear mud flaps for the C70...

I have never seen them on any other C70 - they are genuine Volvo and were fitted when I bought the car. Although the front ones are colour coded the rear ones were plain black which made the car look a little odd. When I took the bumpers in to the paint sprayer, I asked him to colour the mud flaps as well to match the front spec. I am very pleased with the result and will make the car look much more balanced.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay? Are they very flimsy off the car?

P.s Love that colour on a c70 convertable.

No problem asking what I paid £275 for both bumpers and the two rear mud flaps. The chappie I use is a one man back street sprayer working out of some grotty premises, but turns out extremely good work. I always do the stripping and re-assembly and just ask him to do the prep and spraying to a wet glass finish.

The bumpers themselves are substantial entities, made up of the outer plastic shell, inner polystyrene and plastic mouldings and one hefty aluminium box section girder to hold the whole thing together. The outer shell is quite whippy once all the support is taken off, but still quite substantial and firm enough for the sprayer to do his magic.
