Default Rear pad upgrades

I am currently looking to upgrade the rear pads on my v50 2.0D 2008

Off to the ring in April in the lolvo so need better pads

I currently have yellow stuff pads on the front, just trying to increase what I have with out going bigger discs ect

Do the rears do much on the volvos? I know on my track clio it's a 70/30 split

What options are out there ? Only option I have seen are yellow stuff for the rears

Will be buying braided lines next month

Anybody know of any pad options and if they are worth it?

Cheers

Chris

Best is to keep the standard ATE pads at the rear. I had EBC Greenstuff at the rear and the result was that rear braking was dreadful when driving normally. They also squealed loudly...

I'd keep to the ATE pads - even if you have upgraded brake discs at rear.

The rear brakes don't brake hard enough (with standard calipers and setup) to notice a difference and qualify...

Indeed ! Why does marinemackay2003 want to change them ? Has he found a problem with them ?

Stick to Volvo OEM pads as said above. Most upgrade options actually end up being worse for road use. I had EBC RedStuff all round once and words can't describe how awful they were. Dangerously awful.

Unless you're planning on track use I would stay well clear.

Just want to make the best of what I have tbh

Still a daily driver so don't want to be going too mad with race pads

Will just stick to braided lines and super blue fluid then

Thanks for the advice guys

Having tried Volvo, EBC, Mintex, Ferrodo and then back to Volvo (ATE) I'd say that if you have the Volvo ATE pads you're making the best of what you have.

Just my 2p worth.

Always strikes me as bit odd that people seem to asume the standsrd pads are somehow inferior, manufacturers go to lot of trouble selecting the best spec for the vehicle in question

Anything with "motor racing" in the description always implies More superior , maybe if you have to stop from 150 mph 20 or 30 times , but they would be Inferior for normal( even fast ) use on public roads .

best spec for the purpose intended, im taking it around the ring. a little out of spec

Yellow stuff are good for both in my experience as they require little heating to provide good bite and don't fade too much at higher temps
