850 Turbo "Smokin"
OK, I need some help from the folks that know more about these cars than we ever will. I've been to every forum on this side of the water and I am coming to the conclusion that when it comes to troubleshooting, Americans need to stick to muscle cars! I purchased a 1994 850 Turbo to commute to work and to keep my 87 Mustang off the interstate. I purchased the volvo for it's reputation of being a safe car that will run forever and it has lived up to everything I've heard (and it's pretty quick too!) The only problem is that when it heats up it smokes (blue - OIL) when I take off from a stop. The car has a new PVC oil trap, new plugs, cleaned the throttle body, checked and replaced any bad vacuum hoses, new air/oil filter, changed oil and did the Amsoil foam smoke cleaning thing. (my neighbors love me for that one!) The car does not leak oil or water and runs great but as far as the smoke screen ..... I've-bout-had-enough! Should I be looking at the Turbo Next? Any information would really be appreciated.
Thanks, visit my site and check out the stang! |

Quote:
Breather system "one-way" valve sticking. Can cause blue exhaust oil smoke. Uprated or non genuine exhaust system. Reducing the exhaust back pressure with a free flow exhaust system can cause oil leakage from the turbo oil seals, leading to blue exhaust oil smoke. Blue smoke under hard acceleration. Engine wear or defective breather system. Blue smoke under deceleration. Engine wear. |

Thank you for replying. Is replacing the gaskets on the turbo something I can do or should this be left to a professional?
