Unhappy Temp gauge not working

Hi
The temp gauge on my 244DL is not working as it should. It seem to be erratic and now reading lower than it should.
Is the problem with the guage itself or with the sensor in the engine? Is there away of knowing where is the fault?
Help and advice is much appreciated..

Thanks

if the gauge is reeding low it could be that the thermostat is stuck open ,try fitting a new thermostat easy to do the top pipe from the rad goes into the thermostat housing 2 bolt and its off good luck gary

Oky if I remember right under 2nd/3rd intake there is the sensor for gauge get some wire and have someone ground it for a couple of secs gauge should rise
That will rule out gauge in dash and sensor

I had a similar problem with mine.

Turned out that the connector that pushes inot the thermo was making a bad contact. Cleaned it all up, crimped up the connector spade a little and problem solved....

Worth a try before replacing anything...
