Default Water Drain Plug Info Required

Hi Guys

Can someone tell if the Volvo V70 Reg 2014 2.4L D5244T11 happens to have anything silly like a radiator drain plug or cylinder block drain plug as I want to change the antifreeze or is it a case as with so many cars these days, one has to pull the bottom hose off the radiator and can’t drain the block unless you happen to have an air compressor kicking around.

What antifreeze do I need to put in as the days are gone when one used something like Bluecol in whatever car it was?

Thanks

Clive

the plastic drain plug is on the bottom of the radiator on Left hand side. use a 6mm allen key . Also use a 4 litre bottle of volvo coolant dilute 50-50 with water , its good value and does not have to be changed. Protects to -37C

Hi Clan

Thanks for your reply, my master plan was to drain everything down then shove a hose pipe in a flush the lot out, but I’m guessing I will end up with block full of water ie. no antifreeze mix in it.

I guess I will have find out how much water the radiator holds as I’m uncertain whether it holds half the total amount of water or more.
In other words, do my sums, using the owners manual and shove half the volume of neat antifreeze in and then run the engine until the whole lot mixes up.

I assume its the 5 cyl diesel. There is also a brass drain tap down the back of the engine on the underside of the silver coolant pipe just about in line with the steering column, but you can drain most of the coolant out of the radiator drain tap. most of the engine coolant comes out of that. you should have a clean cooling system if it has been serviced correctly.
