Default RWD on the brink ?

Lately, on my XC I've been noticing that when I accelerate hard from standstill, specially when wet, there's a good amount of spinning from the front tires (almost new Michelins Cross Climate)...

Might this mean that I'm out of RWD ?
Otherwise, there are no clonks or weird noises, when driving, even reversing...

Is there a way to check from outside if it's the sleeve or the angle gears that need replacing ?

Most likely the sleeve, you'd hear a lot of horrible noises if it was the gear.
Standard procedure is get all four wheels in the air, get under and turn the rear propshaft by hand. If you can and the front wheels don't turn you have problems.
Alternative method is to get a mate to watch you boot it from standstill on wet grass or gravel with traction control turned off and see if the rear wheels spin.

Good luck
