... we have seen and commented on this one previously. It has been laid up for more than a decade, is a non-runner and doesn't even have a current registration (sounds like it was scrapped years ago so it would have to be re-applied for), yet the joker selling it is asking for £5,000 (I think he/she must have got the decimal point in the wrong place - there is no chance of it making a grand in its current state).

Que sera, sera... :-)
What a surprise - this one didn’t sell at £5,000 :-)

I rather suspect we'll see it again soon, we normally do with grossly overpriced vehicles.

This is the Holt estate car, currentlu at £1,270 with half a day to go - will it make it over the £1,500 mark?

PS. His boat has not raised much interest either. It didn't get any bids for a couple of days when it was at a 99p start price, so the seller's response was to raise the start price to £200 - and the result has been: still no bids; perhaps that is a cunning marketing ploy (but if it is then it is beyond my understanding):

Yes indeed :-)

I don't know much about worthless old boats, but I thought the original 99p starting price was a little bit steep.

Looking at the state of that boat, i don't think it's even worth 99p as firewood!

Default Is This a Scam?

I wonder whether anyone has come across this seller previously; is this ad a scam?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174980699742?hash=item28bda9965e:gIQAAOSwi5tha1L J

... the seller appears to have 1,602 items for sale, all sorts of vehicles (motor cars, motorcycles, boats, ice cream vans...). They all have the same style: a single (often very poor) photo, a graphic with a contact phone number and the same description, the same end time and mostly about the same price (£1,000 to £2,000).

It is a bit hard to believe this seller would really let a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera cabriolet go for £1,900, or a lovely 1976 T160 Trident for exactly the same price - so I rather suspect this is some sort of scam (maybe money laundering, maybe fraud?) and that the seller has somehow falsified the eBay record.

Does anyone know?

Alan

Many moons ago there used to be a variety of services that would sell items for people on ebay and charge those people a commission (usually a percentage) for providing that service. This appears to be a similar service at first glance, not come across this seller before, he seems to be of the "stack'em high, sell 'em cheap" ideology though.
