Big miles auto - flush required?
Hi all,
Bought an immaculate 2002 V70 D5 auto with 160,000 miles and dealer stamps up to 138,000 the other week. After an urgently required binnacle board refurb, the gearbox is now out of limp mode, the car is great and all works hunky dory. However, I am aware that I may be on borrowed time on the transmission. The service schedule says that the trans fluid should be changed in 'adverse conditions', but I have no receipts for this and the fluid on the dipstick is pretty black. There is a also slight bump when shifting the box into drive. Is this the first sign of the box giving up? Will giving it a flush prolong its life or improve operation? Any thoughts? I should add that whilst I can perform most service items and follow a clear set of instructions, I do not consider myself a skilled mechanic by any means and auto boxes are a bit of a dark art to me. thanks Last edited by foxwelljsly; Nov 6th, 2018 at 09:56. |
