Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Verdict: I will continue using my cell phone and Google Maps as my navigation "device."

Simple fix to easily the worst nav i've ever used on these Volvo's is just install Waze on your phone and use that. Or if you have apple/android car play use it via that.

The Volvo Crap-Nav in the Mk1 XC90 was bad and the subject of several letters from me to Volvo, as well as being the subject of a similar forum "campaign" railing against it's many perceived faults.
It's a shame Volvo don't seem to have taken note of the complaints and comments and solved the problem by investing in a partnership with popular and already established and accepted manufacturers/providers, but have again opted for a "different" approach. Just how many more "updates" will it need to make the system work as well as other more widely accepted navigation systems. |

My biggest two issues with the sat nav are
1. It's way too optimistic with arrival times. On my way home there's a longer route I can take if there's traffic ahead. My cut off time was always 20 mins in my Audi - if the car said more than 20 mins I'd take the long route as that took me 20 mins to get home. Every second day in my XC60 the sat nav will say 14 minutes from that point only for it to take 25 minutes or more 2. Having to press the screen 3 or 4 times to see Traffic on your route is ridiculous - unless there's a way to enable this more directly.

I haven't noticed wrong ETA info until now, perhaps it is a problem specific to a certain area?
Do you need to press the screen several times to see RTTI traffic info? As I already replied, I like Sensus navigation (almost sounds as coming out of the closet )

I find my ETA estimate to be as good as any other and very accurate on routes I travel. Went to Cardiff with a couple of stops on the way today and it was bang on, after the stoppages and during the journey it allowed me to time my stoppages.
No problem with the Navigation at all. Like all Navigations it doesn't always choose the route I would wish to take, in which case I ignore it. For instance today from home to Cardiff Hilton Hotel bus stop, I had sent the destination to the car a couple of days ago. Initially it wanted me to go across country, through Lampeter and over the mountains to the heads of the valleys road. No thanks! Not in this weather. So I head for Carmarthen and the M4, which is my usual route. Within three miles it had resigned itself to go my way, so great. It also wanted to take me off at Culverhouse Cross, which is a perfectly valid route and probably saves a few hundred yards, but I prefer a more familiar route turning at Leckwith where the football stadium is. Purely my preference. Sat-nav does what I decide not what it decides, when there is a conflict, and I've not driven one yet where there isn't the odd disagreement. In fact I was a passenger in a friend's car once and I had a Garmin, one friend had a TomTom and the car had its own Mercedes system. At a particular crossroads in Somerset somewhere, one said 'Right Turn'. Another said 'Left Turn' and yet another said 'Straight Ahead'. That is absolutely true and I'm sure each would have taken us to the correct destination despite the discrepancy at that crossroads. It was a heck of a laugh at the time with five of us in the Mercedes GL

Spend your money on a phone guys rather than integrated satnav, or Carplay which projects WAZE onto the big screen, never fails. |

I have used many versions of sat navs, including apps on mobile phones, (and Waze) give me a dedicated built in system any day, so much easier and more reliable.
