I suppose most folk don't know what stuff they need to clean a car and assume these wash places have all the products etc, I don't fancy the 'wash mit of a thousand cars' touching my clearcoat though.

I guess others have tried to wash a car with a sponge and fairy liquid *shudders* and got poor results so use the wash place to at least get a perceived slightly better finish...

Both main dealers I worked for used large telescopic wash brushes. Basically bloody broom sticks. Even worse than a sponge.

Mine recently went in for a fault with parking sensors, was a bit mucky and it need a wash, I’d rather they didn’t but they did wash and vac it.....

It’s a year old but I hadn’t seen swirls in the bonnet before

The dealership near me gives a “free wash” coupon for the car wash across the street when you get any work done... all I ever got done by them so far was a windscreen replacement, so couldn’t get it washed right away, and haven’t found myself back in that neck of the woods with a dirty enough car on a nice enough day to make it worth the time.
