These commands would not intentionally clear the intinerary, but suspend the sat-nav for a time, for example when going through an already well-known part of the route.

Just ask it for "Help". Literally. She's very obliging. A list will appear on the dash and you can either repeat the words, the selection number, or scroll to your choice and press the button to select.

Once you know what the phrase is for what you want to do, then from then on say it directly. I just cannot see why seemingly intelligent and articulate people cannot get a grip on something so simple. I don't use it for everything but am using it for more and more adjustments the more I drive the car. I've recently set my car to start with the seat and steering heat to come on at the middle setting when the car is started and then use voice control to adjust them or. most often to switch them off. To change from DAB to FM. To set internal temperature and adjust one different to the other. To phone. To set navigation destination and to cancel it.

It does work and work well. Welsh names is its downfall when it comes to phoning, but there is the option of using the steering buttons and list in the dash for most used or return calls. There are almost always alternative controls for what you wish to do which are more distracting than using voice. For this reason I do wish that the Stop-Start function could be voice controlled.

"Turn off voice guidance" or "Turn on voice guidance" works

Saying "Climate" will get her to list viable options and a visual copy will pop up on the dash.
"Turn off fan", "Raise fan speed", "Lower fan speed" and "Climate" followed by "auto" or "Turn on auto" are all valid options.

All good advice but the best advice to give anyone if they have a concern or problem is to read the on line manual at home before writing a post, then write the question and answer or lack of it for other members benefit. Some or all of the recent voice questions would have been covered.

Yes, but some of the questioners and complainants have had their cars for quite a while and have not read or understood the manual. RTFM is always good advice but this car doesn't even require that for voice control. All one needs is to know to use the word 'Help' and the system will actually list viable options. Then a tiny bit of the driver's memory for easy repeat use without the use of 'Help' next time.

I hope it doesn't sound patronising when I repeat that it is simple and that the system 'Help' is there to guide the newbie every time.
Plus there's the manual, I the dash and on the app, which requires the operator to actually RTFM.

"Help" is your only option - the manual is very sparce on Voice instructions - or it's accurate but there is poor integration.

I assumed anything on the Sensus could be controlled by Voice Recognition - like Reduced Guard ON and Camera ON, but this is not seemingly possible.

I'd like a series of use programmable buttons on the bottom panel of the Sensus - as opposed to the last app used. Like an Android Widget.
I can dream.....

Next time just say "Help" for a list of available commands. It works fine for me when you restrict to existing commands.

"Help" works fine.
Shows a disappointingly short list of areas it can control.
I appreciate it can be updated, but in this Siri/Alexa age - it's all very underwhelming.

Apart from the panoramic roof and blind, plus the auto-stop-start, I find it controls just the right amount of stuff. However, if Siri functionality is required, then it is very much available if Apple CarPlay is fitted.

I believe Alexa can also be fitted. I saw a video of it being fitted to some car's system about a year ago. In which case and if Amazon Prime music is subscribed to, then it should be streamable to the car. I do use Prime Music on mine through Bluetooth and all it takes is to create a playlist in Prime Music so that the whole playlist is available rather than having to choose individual tracks, one at a time or artist at a time, and ideally, to download the content rather than use data to stream every time.

Probably why Volvo (and possibly others) will go toward third party software 'specialists' such as Android.

On the face of it - it's a bit wasteful for each marque to spend millions on their own R&D even though ultimately, the drivers are looking for the same functions behind the car's UI, whatever the brand.
