Default Compatable Engines for a 164 body

I have the body (Chassis) for a 1973 Volvo 164 and am looking for an engine to fit into this. Can any one please suggest what are the probable Vovlo engines (with gear box) that can be put into this body.

With you recomendation, can you also suggest what are the modifications to be made, such that this engine can fit well in the engine bay.

Right now I have the power steering pump and a manual four seed gearbox along with the body.

Mighty Thanks,

Johnny

Default RE: Compatable Engines for a 164 body

Hi there Johnny
the obvious answere is a 164 engine, I have a spare one.
If you are looking for somthing different how about a 240/740 2.3 glt engine and 5 speed box. This will need engine mounting brackets making, fit electric fan(340)and connect exhaust ps pump and wiring from donner car.If you want more power you could try a T5 engine or a 3ltr 960 motor.
