Default XC90 2005 Hard wire dash cam

Hi all,
Just bought a dash cam for my Volvo XC90 2005. It also came with a hard wiring kit, to which i have to find a perminent live feed for it from the fuse box in the car. 1 ) where is the inside fusebox. 2) The kit is designed to share a circuit with a piggy back adapter so no cutter or joining wires which i approve.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Alan & Nicola

Fitted one to my xc90 a few months ago. Run the cable down to the drivers side, can get a ground via a bolt under the end cap with one fuse box, then continue the positive to the fuse box under the steering wheel and piggy back the 12v supply there. Can't remember the fuse number off the top of my head (fuse 11 - just looked it up).

Also use ferrite cores just before the camera and by the ground - without this the DAB radio (Pure) I had installed was loosing signal due to the interference.

Good info about the ferrite cores - I have "loss of signal" problems with my little pocket size PURE DAB when I'm charging my phone in the car using a separate 12v - 5v USB adaptor

How should I tackle that?

Ferrite beads/rings on the cable between the adaptor and the phone?

Cheers

Dave

As you said put the ferrite chokes on the charging cable - it is the 12v to 5v step down that generates noise which messes up the DAB. It took me a long trip to work out what had happened as locally the DAB reception can be poor...

I routed my camera to the centre grill in the dash. In there I fitted a 12v to USB (about £5 from eBay) which I powered from the back of the 12v socket in dash. When I replaced radio I had interference. I didn't have proper ferrite cores available so I used two M10 nuts, wrapped the wires 3 times through this and then taped it up. Worked a treat.
