Default Volvotech Canbus Extender

Braved the freezing outdoors today to try out this new-to-me gizmo (thanks Harley Dave for such speedy despatch!)

Rootled around the house first for a Windows laptop (forgot I had the VIDA one in the car, doh) and quickly updated the settings. Plugged in to the OBDII port, double-sided-taped it in that area and woo hoo - folding power mirrors just like my BMW X5.......and a whole lot of other nice touches - added some functions to the message display, lights, locking, comfort open and close windows and sunroof, to name a few.

Odd little gadget -unlike the well-known Carly gadget for the BMW which can force DPF regens and loads more, the Volvotech gadget has to stay plugged in for the extended functions to work - it is an extension of the canbus, it does not change the car's own software settings.

Never cheap, and I understand no longer available new. But worth it to me - I am chuffed to have more "modern" functions in my venerable, elderly XC90.

Glad you are happy with it.

Not quite the weather just now but the "all windows and sunroof open/close from the key" was very handy in the hot weather in Spain.

Don't forget to close them after though...

Cheers

Dave

I'm kicking myself now because it would appear that our older XC70 may have had this useful little device left in it by previous owner - auto closing mirrors, auto mirror dip when engaging reverse etc. Imagine my surprise when the newer XC90 didn't do these things... Shame they are quite expensive.
