You best off doing a leak off test

In a previous D5 I had, one dodgy injector only manifested itself as a rough idle but was fine under load. Makes sense as the increase in fuel pressure at higher revs would help mask any slight loss in output that would be more significant at low revs.

On the leak test is it done on tick over and under 40mm per minute ok or rev to where it shakes?

I did my leak-back test at idle, following the guidance of my favourite YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbQhKjj6jis

I use a proper leak-back kit as it has metal fittings on the end of the hoses that connect to the top of the injectors.

As far as I know, the common rail pressure stays the same at all engine speeds, and therefore the fuel back-leakage would also stay the same - in other words, I don't think you need to do a leak-back test at higher engine revs. I could be wrong though - happy to hear otherwise.

RE: engine shake.....my D5 185 produces about the same amount of vibration regardless of engine speed (in my case, not much vibration). It's a manual.

fault code P155185 - injector cylinder 1 - signal to high - permanent.

Got this fault which keeps coming back. Had an oscilloscope on the injector wiring and all looks good no missing signals etc.

Called the local injector diesel place about the fault who suggested swapping injector 1 with another and see fault follows the injector.

If i do this will any codes need entering? Are they coded to the car or to each cylinder position?

No one got a clue on the injector swap between cylinders?

Has anyone got Dice to see if each injector is coded to a cylinder?

Thanks.

If its the same as earlier D5's then you should be able to swap them around ok, but if you're doing it by the book, you should replace the pipes and the clamps which is an expensive option just to move a potentially faulty injector to another cylinder.

Got new clamps bolts and copper washers. Swapping to see if fault follows the injector.

Swapped injectors today but the fault stays with number 1 so back to the drawing board.
