Retro fit Headlight adjustment?
Hi all, on my 96 850, I don't have beam height adjustment. Do you know if it would be possible to retro-fit it?
Is there a separate bit of loom that goes between the headlight adjuster motors as I only appear to have 1 extra plug by a headlight? Cheers in advance, ...Guy

It is pretty simple I made this last year. The car where I made this had a white 6 pole connector unused on the side where the light switch is. This is for the 2 stage locking system which was used in USA mainly. You could use this conector if you take away the "key" which prevents it to "mate" with the switch (they are color coded).
Wires at positions 2 and 5 stay there (illumination and ground). A wire from position 3 will need to be routed to the 24/13 B13 position (yellow big connector under the dash, 2nd block from the top, the positions are numbered). A second wire from position 4 of the switch goes to the same block position 12. In the engine bay all should be pre wired. The pins are called Delphi Sicma and you will need a crimping tool for uninsulated contacts. Or from a breaker... Cheers Cristian PS As I see you drive a T5R, these come with sport nivomat suspension. Meaning that as long as the nivomats are working you do not normaly need the beam height control. If you replace the nivomat shocks with non nivomat ones, it's a different story Last edited by scutyde; Dec 5th, 2017 at 13:21. |

Many thanks Sir,
I had hoped it would be a simple matter of Plug and play. The car did have Nivo's but has been changed to standards after one of the Nivo's went balls up. The plugs that go into the motors are separate to the headlight plugs though aren't they? I have what looks like 1 plug that could fit the bill on one side. I was wondering if there was a separate loom that goes between the headlights behind the rad somewhere? If so, mines missing that. ...Guy

Actualy I never saw an 850 which was missing the connectors in the engine bay. They are 3 pole. Mostly they are hidden with a dustcap on them to prevent corosion.
